Met a guy on Tuesday that has two CJ5s. They have hard half cabs, massive spring packs, about 16 leaves, D60 or 14 (looks different than I remember) rear dually axles. He said one was his Grandfather's in KY working for the state and other is from MI, state vehicle. One is a 1965 and the other is a 1967. He said he has been looking for information about them, but nobody seems to know anything about them.

Anyone know anything about these type of Jeeps?

If memory serves they made the cj5 with one ton options including all the beefy rearend parts you listed. Most were marketed with backhoe, posthole digger and other type attachments. If he has the attachments to go with them they are a gold mine. But I am pretty sure they are still fairly rare.

You may want to check at http://www.earlycj5.com/

Most people wont confuse a tugger for a cj5 due to the goofy front end.

you'd be surprised... not all of them had that really goofy front end.

Its also possible that there was some sort of conversion done the these CJ5s, because I don't beleive they ever would have rolled out of the factory with and rear end greater than a D44.

I have never seen a tugger with any other frontend. :?

According to montes discription I think this fits the bill

Looking at those pictures, that would be the one, without the digger attachments.

I don't remember it having coils in addition to the leaves in the rear, but I didn't look for that either.

Hi, new member here.

I wonder if you might be talking about the FC. There was a FC-150, a FC-170 and a FC-170DRW.

Check out this site and go up to the home page for more. http://jeepfc.www5.50megs.com/fc170/fc170drw.htm

The 150 was based on a CJ-5 chassis. These things are cool, but there aren't many around.

I've only laid eyes on one. It's a red DRW, totally restored and slightly customized with a nice oak flatbed. It has been at the old car show in Momence, IL. He drove it there. :tu2:

I'd like to have one, but I like the Willys pickups even better.
