Running a full Detroit in the rear? I had one installed in my D35 and 4.10 gears and there is some play in the drive shaft. The guy who installed claimed that he set the gears up right and that he called someone about it and they said that was normal for a Detroit. So I thought i would just ask around

You talking about ovaling or are you refering to  ning, like back lash feels way to much? the detriot will seem wierd but to truely check it you can bearly feel the back lash and then the detriot makes it feel really loose, its fine, the detriot requires power imput to work or lock it, if your at Hooters tomorrow I will check it out

Your feeling the backlash in the gears, the backlash is multiplied at the pinion so it feels like way to much. Backlash on a 44 is .006 to .010 thousandths.

There is also quite a bit of play due to the Detroits consruction/function. You will feel quite a bit of play in the driveshaft, as I doubt you have the strenght to lock that Detroit by ning it with your hand. _________________ Hung like Einstein, smart as a horse. Semper Fidelis.

Thank you guys that info really helped alot it explaned alot! I live quite a ways from Fort Wayne or I would let you check it for me I appreciate the offer though
