It doesn't happen all the time, but at night the headlights will flicker on and off along with the dash lights. It has only happened a few times and I was on a dark road without streeet lights at the time. It seems to happen more with the brights on.
Bad alternator?
Drawing too many amps?
Bad headlight switch?
Possessed Jeep?
Maybe Linda Blair is hiding under the hood?
Can dirty connections cause this as well?
Alt guage reads close to 15 while running.
Going to have Auto zone test the charging system (free is nice)

Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking of swapping out for the 136 amp Dodge alternator if there is a problem with the alternator. Has anyone tried that conversion?

Sounds like a bad connection.

If it happens more with the brights on it draws me to your "multi-function" control aka the turn signal switch, unless you have a CJ, then your brights dimmer is on the floor...i think its the dimmer switch for the brights...

So I'm driving home last night after softball and hit the brights, fog lights and aux lights several times just to see what it would do. Of course it does nothing, but I'm sure I blinded a couple of possums and raccoons.
I was trying to see if the extra draw from the other lights were overloading the alt and making them cut out. Nope.

I would look real close at the plug on the headlight switch and the headlight switch itself..

My "turn signal switch" on my YJ is out right now and doing something kind of similar. My lights would go out, i'd tap the brights a few times and they'd flick back on. It eventually stopped working all together, good thing I have some decent fog lights. The only difference is that my parking/dash lights remain on. That leads me to believe your problem is in your switch to turn on and off the lights instead of your "brights switch".

And if anyone knows of a good place to get the "turn signal/brights switch" without going to the dealership? Maby I've just been using the wrong terminology when searching for one. I've been running on only my front fog lights for well over a year now. :eek2:
