Well I figured I would start this kinda as keeping a record of everything I've done and will do. So I don't care if no one really reads it. So first the Jeep.
2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon 4.0 auto 42lre with 56,000 miles.
Image

After driving and loving it for a few days, I decided that I would like some aftermarket things for it. So here is what I got for her so far.
Image
Box from Quadratec and a Bag from Best Buy...... What could it be!
Image
Image
Image
KC 5" Apollo Lights and KC windshield mounts. With all the hardware
Image
Sylvania replacement headlamps. Mine really need replaced...
Now on to the bag!
Image
Image
New dash speaker. I had a blown one so instead of buying a factory replacement I bought some aftermarket ones. Hopefully they will be nice!
As of right now plans are.
New floor mats (quadratec one)
CB radio kit from quadratec. Uniden Pro 510 CB Radio with wires and everything.
New bumper from JCR Offroad or till I find one better.
Smittybuilt xcr winch. Eh scratch that going warn!
those are a few plans rights now. Ill see how this will go. If you have any info about the stuff above feel free to say something.
Thank!

JCR makes some good stuff, only other company I would suggest is poison spyder customs. I have a JCR tire carrier on my Jeep and its pretty nice...oh and go warn winch or go home, its a rubicon it needs the best.

as said above, go Warn. A lot of places will do price matching, and even beat competitors prices. So find the best price, then call 4wheelparts or qtech and see if they will beat it. Shoot, I've even heard stories of the 4wheelparts in Indy getting into price match wars with 4wheelparts.com/800number.

Welp tonight I worked and worked........and worked some more. I fixed my speakers. Turns out to be a bad wire so I didn't need new speaker, Ill either keep and install them later or might sale them. Well I was there I took the radio out........the guy that owned it before me was a flip-in moron. All the wires were tape together with BLUE MASKING TAPE!! I spent an hour or so soldering them together and covering them right. Oh anyone would like audio help or soldering, just ask. Its all I did in high school. So that was taken care of, I moved on. I did the head light.. 1000 times better! Oh my gosh these thing are awesome. Only took me 30ish minutes to do it. Then I was going to do windshield lights and mounts. Well I couldn't get the frigging bolts out of the hinges! I got the lower outside one off and the mount on but Id at least like one more bolt so there more stable. Anyone have any tricks for this or suggestion? Hopefully someone does. I could use the help. Might have to take it to a shop and see if they can do it. Well that's it for updates for now.

That's what I was afraid of. I hate flush torx bolts.

I would get yourself a Craftsman torx bit (or 3) for those particular ones. Those are the only ones that I am aware of that are precise enough to not round the holes out. I've heard of people welding nuts to the top of them to get them out (and then replacing them afterwards), but I have not had that kind of success doing that. :(

put the torx bit on their, be sure it is the right size, even when you think you've got the right size, double check with the next one bigger.

Once you've got the proper size torx bit, place it in the bolt, then smack it with a deadblow hammer, try to loosen bolt, if no luck, try to slightly tighten it, then try loosening again. Be sure to keep a steady inward pressure on the head of your ratchet, to keep plenty of down pressure on the bolt as you back it out, to keep the bit from slipping inside of the bolt.

Part of the issue is that the size of the bolts is affected by the paint (they were installed factory prior to painting). That is why you should always check a size up, then hammer tap it in. Also, hammering the bit in will allow for some vibration or what not in the threads that should help free any oxidation that may have built up causing the bolt to stick.

One of these will change your life on torx.

Craftsman has nicer ones but the HF one works great.

Also IIRC the two front ones have nuts behind them inside.

I was going to say get an impact driver like that. I have one here at work and they work great on stuck screws and bolts like the ones on the windshield bracekts. I had to use it on mine when I put my lights up there.

Hmm I might try that driver.

I have an impact but I was afraid that it would strip them.

I would not use a regular impact for the reason you stated. This is pretty direct even force with minimal turning action. They do work like a charm on certain things.

Well time is up. Time to head back to school so the build will have to wait for a little while. But while I wait I shall buy!! I have a few things in mind. I was reading a build thread on Jeep Forum, a guy had a Rubicon and I like the way he was building it. A Rubicon is a capable vehicle enough so I will just armor it up and add small things. So here is the new list I got.
Quick Discos
Image
CB Kit
Image
Dana 44 diff covers.
Image
New JCR bumper
Image
Warn Winch
Image
Rock Sliders
Image
Lift Kit. Old Man Emu. As YJMan said she a rubicon and deserve the best

Are the lockers on a rubicon like the ARB air lockers? Also doesn't your rubicon have a engine skid along with the belly skid?

This place makes some nice hardcore stuff if your interested. My Jeep will be getting a set of rock rails and tube fenders from them soon.

*edit*
This is my buddy Barry's rubi, decked out with some PSC gear as far as skids and front singer's go. Even a windshield banner

and he wheels it..

Hmmm it does have those skids.

Well the diff covers wont work from ARB. So looks like Riddler or PSC has one in the works. Looking into them too

As for PSC. I really like there rear bumper.

It doesn't have one that runs from the front of belly that covers the motor's oil pan? thats weird you would think Jeep would throw one on there with it being a rubicon

I agree with kennedy and same for my YJ I haven't ever (that I know of) hit it, unless your rocking out in a place like johnson valley or the rubicon trail I would put it off for now and get one maybe a little later.

Make your own discos... then winch and bumper. You really don't even need to buy bumpers, so winch and winch plate first.

• 2 - Cotter Pin
• 4 - 7/16" Grade 5 or better washers
• Torxs Bit Set (every Jeep owner should have one)
• Wrench

go with half inch and just drill out the holes in the axles. The factory holes are metric, like 12mm, 7/16 will be a loose fit, drill them to 1/2 and use 1/2 pins (think hitch pins) and it will be a snugger fit and less chance of a rattle.

So my friend offered me his old winch for really cheap. Its a Superwinch LP8500. It has some decent reviews, I might just have to go with it.

On a side note. I was planning on buying a lift kit but now Im thinking about buying everything separate. I looking at Old Man Emu coils with Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, and getting a relocation bracket and t-case drop.

Superwinch makes a descent winch, their older ones were a lot more stout than the newer ones, but they are still all good.
Go for it!

if you change color, I'd have them powder coated, not painted... paint won't hold up as well...
this place does good powder coating work btw, and isn't too far from your place http://omniindustries.com/

I was actually thinking about doing that! Just cause I don't wanna ruin these rims

Edit.....well I found these wheels after looking that I like.
I like the use of both colors
Image
Same as above just with out the simulated beadlock on it
Image
Really like these and they are in a grey color that I like but really expensive
Image
Or these that are like my stock wheels, they will already be black and wont take a much to do the powder coat in the grey plus no tire alittle more expensive but I think there a good option.
Image
They also make a gun metal version but not quite what I want.
Image
And for the cheapest option some good ol' soft 8's
Image

either way I'll be getting new tires when I lift so new wheels would be nice too.
Sorry for the pic heavy just bored

The bushings was ate through on both the bottom hinges, the passenger one was hard but we got it with a few love taps with the BFH. When we went to the driver side we couldn't get it with the hammer and pb blaster was helping but not much so we removed the hinge from the the completely. Took a board and the hammer put it on the hinge and hammered till it came off. Pulled to ate up bushing out and cleaned everything good. Wraped it with some white plumbers tape to help with the lack of bushing and put it back on. Once it was on, we were putting the nuts on and the little thread part of the pins snaped off the bottom pin. So I will be replacing that once schools done.

you don't really needed the threaded part on the bottom on the hinge pin... just makes it take longer to remove the doors...

It was a 4 hour ceremony and 2 hours on top of that to get people in their spots. Plus my parents keep wanting my picture, I was a little annoyed.

Uh I didnt think about it, you know they dont really lift right? They have a slightly higher spring rate.

Either the BDS 2" or OME 2.5" heavy kit

I wouldn't get a lot of lift from them, however they are newer, have less miles on them and aren't supporting a pig of a 4 liter anymore..

However same here, I was looking at those two brands myself. Though I really don't want to install an SYE if needed..Let me know when you do this and if I'm not working I will be down for helping out..

Sweet, they should get you maybe .25 of in inch. Plus I have the heavy duty gas shocks idk if you want those too but I will look around. Its hard to choose a lift lol least I find it hard

I would probbely just be interested in the coils, but like I said, let me know and I will try and make to where ever it is you do the lift.

Let me know when you do this. If I'm free I'll see if I can help out. I've done several in the past. It should only take about 4 hours, unless all of your bolts are seized and require heat to get lose. Start spraying everything with PB Blaster now...

Well if you want, you could post up on wrangler forum in the indiana section and maybe we could get some of the local or not local fort wayne people to help out too and we can use my garage, Its heated, with air tools and basic tools. Has TV and stereo too. plus if you need to crash here we have a two couches and a spare bed room..

Yep there factory, I'm guessing they will stay there for a bit. I was looking at up grading to the KC versions soon.

Update to, taking a break and got a late start. Rear shocks out and are waiting for springs. Oh broke one upper bolt per side.

Rear axle wasnt dropped far enough to get the new coils in and had the wrong type of coil compressor. So I will start again in the morning and hopefully be done by dark

Take your rear sway bar and shit off, jack up one side of the axle really far, put new coil in on the side that isn't jack up and do the same for the other side..fawk coil spring compressors..

Yeah there man killers. And I didn't relize disconnect the sway bar was standard but of course OME doesn't send instructions. Plus I think we're missing a few parts. Those t-bars are the stupidest pecking thing ever invinted

yep... what YJ man said. The first TJ lift I ever did I tried to use a spring compressor... NEVER AGAIN.
Its quicker and easier to either jack one side of the axle (be sure the whole Jeep is properly supported on jackstands, especially if there is still a spring in the side you're jacking), and disconnect the sway bar and/or the lower control arms.

So I will be getting money back from school so I am going to spend a bit on the jeep. So I made a list of things Id like to get either a group of small things or one large thing but there are a few different large things.

Small group:
JKS Quick Discos.
OME Steering Stabilizer.
Some soft discos.
D-Ring iso
Hydro-Graphing kit.

Large things:
Rampage Trail Top.
Currie Anti Rock.
Warn Rock Crawler rear bumper. (too match the front)
Winch and fairlead mount for bumper.
Lower arms all the way around.

Or buy a welder

you can build your own quick sway disconnects for uner $5.
Weld a washer to the bend size of a hitch pin, use that hitch pin in place of the bolt. Since the factor sway bar bolt at the axle is 13mm, which is just a hair smaller than 1/2", you may, but may not, have to run a 1/2" drill bit through the sway bar bracket on the axle. Then all you have to do is insert the hitch pin through, slide on a washer and pin it in. When you disconnect, simply unpin, rotate the sway bar up, perch the links on top of the spring towers, if you're affraid they will fall off, ziptie them.

Ever seen a gun with a mossy oak or a real tree camo finish on it? Well that's hydro graphing. Basically it is ink to transparent and dried. You take your measurements and such, put it on top of some water then spray the actavater on it and it aborbs water then you dip whatever you want in it and the water makes it conform to it turning it in to camo or whatever you want. I'm going to do the center dash cover. That piece that goes around the sterio and ac controls etc. then do my covers for the speakers in my sound bar. Then some other odds and ends around the jeep.

Thanks! I used to be an audio tech back in high school and played in a lot of bands so I love my music. My system isn't crazy or anything but it does shake the jeep and I can hear music at 60mph with no top or doors. If you ever need help with your let me know, I'm pretty good at it

See we are cool! I played trombone and tuba for concert band, baritone for marching band, guitar and bass for jazz band. Then I was a classic rock cover band for a bit then in my friends hard core band (not my style) then did a SKA band for a bit

So it's time moose got this build in gear!
So list goes:
1.25" body lift.

If and when you do the body lift and your T-case linkage starts giving you fits (if it even does) and your at your wits end laying under it trying to get it adjusted and accidentally pop the t-case in neutral which cause's the jeep to slowly roll down your drive way and your running to catch it so it doesn't bang into the street light poll..well the point is I HIGHLY recommend the Novak shifter cable kit. Well worth the money, I installed it and never looked back..

Now for the Tail gate, get a old CJ-7 tailgate that says 'jeep' on the back

33's, go with some BFG KM2's!

'thats all I got'

Well the MML is supposed to help fix it but I figured I would throw a Novak on there anyway. But I'm taken your jeep almost hit a light pole?

That was my thought use a CJ gate there's a kit to do all, I just gotta figure out for the spare. Keep it rear and get a bumper with a tire carrier or make a hard cover and put it where the rear seat is.

I love KM2's but there so pricy.....I was thinking another set of Big Horns

If you do the rear gears, you'll want to do the fronts too...

Don't you have a Rubicon? I see no need to re-gear unless you go 35's, possibly 37s...

I know....I typed it all from my phone I ment re gear.

Yes I do but with the crappy auto trans in order to keep the overdrive gear then you have to re gear fairly deep

Nice night show without lights... is that an actual photo, or just a black box?
