Well a couple weeks ago I ran across someone getting rid of some full doors for a TJ. When red jeep left the factory, it shipped with factory half doors. Which are great if you live in a warm climate, but not so much with the winters Indiana has been having lately. So anyway, the doors were located in Chicago Illinois, about a 3 hour drive from my place. So Kari and I hoped the KJ and made the drive. There was no way Red jeep would of kept up with the Chicago traffic.

However the day before, when I got in the Jeep to leave work, it was almost like red jeep was trying to tell me, get me some full doors with how much snow was in it..

These were the photos the seller sent me that got me interested. As you can tell the doors are in decent shape, however they have been on a Jeep that has been wheeled and have scratches here and there. Hey its a Jeep..

I don't really have any photos of us getting there, We ended up meeting on a bad side of town. So we grabbed the doors and got out of there! Here's some shots of getting the doors home and unloaded and giving them a closer look

Cooper checking them out and approves!

Swapping doors and adding mirrors to the full doors!

Test fitting and getting them adjusted

and boom, red jeep has a set of full doors

First impressions, I don't know if its just me getting older or what, but I think I may have trouble throwing the half doors back on. They have really cut down on road noise, tire and engine noise inside. Another added bonus is drive thru's.. the roll down window is so much nicer than the zipper windows. Especially since the zippers on mine are pretty much shot and don't want to zip up.

Also as you can the tell unless your color blind they don't match the jeep, they came of an 05 and the interior panels don't match either. Actually the way they are I don't think is bad, but over time I would like to paint them "flame red" and find "mist gray" door panels for them. I'm also trying to find out how hard it would be to swap the lock cylinders out of my factory half doors to the full doors since its pretty much pointless to lock half doors anyway. So stay tuned!

You should get a set of mirror relocaters that mount the mirrors to the lower windshield hinge, then you won't have to swap them between doors, or worry about no mirrors when the doors are off. That is what I ran on my TJ so that I had mirrors for the 7 months of the year that I left the doors and top off.

The lady I got the doors from actually gave me pair of those. But I don't think I will run them. Trying to find someone to trade me them for their factory door mounts.

When it has been doorless it just doesn't have mirrors on it. If anything I will find something to stick in the door peg. But it's not like its doorless 24/7..

I mounted my factory mirrors onto my Element half doors.

(I don't have a picture of the mirrors on them yet)

Then I got these. Whenever I take the doors of, I put these on. It literally takes a couple seconds to attach them.

Pay no attention to my safari rack mount. The smaller black plate is the one for the mirror. Then you just secure it with the knob screw and you're legal.
They may not be the best, but they were cheap and they keep the Jeep legal. If I have the doors off, the top is off, and I can turn my head and see everything I need to see.

Not saying it's the right thing to do but I have never been messed with in Fort Wayne by the police for not having mirrors. Granted like i said, I'm not doorless 24/7, just when the mood strikes.

I'm actually thinking about pulling the mounts off my old yj full doors and seeing if they will mount up. Then taking the mirrors the lady gave me and installing those..
