I have seen them facing both ways in the advertisements. Does anyone know the pluses and minuses of the direction?
Thanks,
Mike

depends if it's functional or not.

if it's just a stick on one and you dont put any holes in the hood than it doesn't matter. Or are you referring to the one that goes over the cowl area just in front of the windshield? If so google it you'll find plenty of opinions on which way is better.

At the base of the windshield will do best facing rear. Back pressure from the air hitting the widshield will push into the scoop. In the center of the hood will do OK facing either direction. there is no "ram air" effect until you get to speeds in excess of 100 MPH.
If you're asking about a scoop for a 4x4 snorkle, there's pros and cons to both directions. Facing the rear will avoid some dust, dirt, and splashing water, but at highway speeds, it will create suction in the duct.
