Will a 4.0 block from a 96 XJ work in a 99 TJ? Basically will the intake and manifolds from the TJ bolt up to it?

I know some years are different in heads and such and I know that the accessories have to be switched over.

Thanks

mac 'its been discussed before but at the moment I dont have time to do a search' gyvr

as far as heads are concerned yes, but I think the xj 4.0 has different accessory mounts/engine mounts on the block itself. I remember Wes running into a problem with this when he was replacing his motor.

96 accessories are different from 95...its closer to a TJ setup than prior generation XJs...

my concern is the intake and exhaust ports lining up on the head.

mac 'motor up' gyvr

I believe the ports and mounts should line up. You can put a TJ fi intake on a 4.2 and make it work, so I don't see why this wouldn't work?

if the 99 has the split exhaust manifold design, it will not bolt up to the older head. remember when we did mine? we had to rebuild my exhaust.....

intake ports were fine, the exhaust ports on the split manifold are smaller and round than the ones on the 1 piece. they are larger and the split manifold leaked. going to the 1 piece manifold solved my problem.
