So this morning I noticed my temp gauge was going up kinda high as I was driving, I would stop and then it would go down really low in temp, shoot back up and fluctuate while I was driving. Its not smoking that Im aware of, but I notice a sweet smell as I'm driving...antifreeze probably. I smelled this before I bought it too, but had no problems even driving it an hour home. What is you guy's oppinion? My guess is the thermostat or low on fluid...but going for the thermostat first and checking the fluid while Im in. It's not likely to be a head gasket with these symtoms right???? I really dont want to replace a head gasket...no money too and too much work...let me know you guy's two cents...

if you are smelling it inside the vehicle then you might have a bad heater core. do you have antifrieeze on the passenger's side floor board?
