I have a cut up CJ2a, from the '47 vintage. I wouldn't have hacked it up as bad as I did, except the floor has completely rotted out from it, the frame was junk, and I removed about 25lbs of bondo out of the rear of the thing. One day It will get built up into some kick ass buggy.

I had a 2A before the Jeep I have now. It was original except for a Chevy small block conversion that appeared to have been done in the 50's. It was a 265 CID. I welded the rear, put some 31's on it and wheeled it at the Badlands. I miss it now. There is something extra cool about OLD Jeeps.

I don't have one (yet), but My father owns a restoration buisness specialising in Vintage Jeeps and other Military vehicles.. So I'm very familiar with old Jeep models, I've practically grown up around them.

429 cadillac big block, I think it is from a 62, right now it runs on propane but I think Tom is planning on putting the gas tank back in it and making it a dual-fuel. That thing is one bad :booty: truck.

I have a 66 CJ5A Tuxedo Park Mark IV that i bought from the Roanoke Vol. Fire Dept. last March. I am only the second owner and it has 7000 original miles on it now. Watchamacallit can vouch for the excellant shape it is in, showed it to him after i bought it. F-head 134, T90 3-speed on-the-tree, D18 transfer case, D27 front, D44 rear, still has the oil bath air cleaner and the mechanical distrib. I will post some pics after the holidays. Merry Christmas fellow Jeepers!!

Roanoke didn't do a very decent job of disseminating the silent, sealed auction for the jeep. Happened last Feb., I happened to see the paper hanging in the town hall during a cub scout meeting. I was told it was announced in the Jan TAB. When they opened the bids in March, I was one of only 11 or 12 bids and I got the top bid by only about 800 dollars. Only one other bidder knew about what it was worth. The town advertised it as a CJ5! I have alot of others around the county that were upset that they didn't know about the auction. So, you are in good company! :nopity: :tu2:

I Paid alot more than 800 for the jeep. I just meant someone else bid within 800 of my bid. I actually bid just over 5000 for the jeep. I think i got a hell of a deal. After looking around, if i had to replace the Tux it would cost me between 10,000 to 14000 to find another in this shape and low miles. If i could find one.... I am a very lucky Jeeper! :tu2:

Well what do you know, it works! Just gotta work on the size... 134 F-head, T90 3 speed on-the-tree, D18 transfer case, D27 front, D44 rear, runs beautiful and still has the oil bath air cleaner and mechanical distributor.

Just bought a tailgate from a guy out in AZ who was parting out a 65 CJ5A Tux. Considering if i should leave the Tux like this or restore back to stock.. undecided at the current time. What do you think?

Wow, nice looking Jeep!

I'd leave it as-is, adds character, and if you have the documentation to show that its been like that since new, it shouldn't effect the value at all.

I was leaning towards that! Too cool... But i believe i will add the tailgate and a back seat so the kiddos can come with on jaunts. Jeeping needs children involved to.. so pass the love down to the next generation!!!!! :tu2:

"The steps won't last long in the rocks...."

:o Rocks!?, you can't take that out in the rocks!

I'd have to change the steps and the rear bumper..... for the rocks and trails, add the tailgate and seats back, and drive it, alot.

This ride is fair weather and maybe a little dirt. Sorry guys, no mudding in this jeep. I plan on a newer jeep for that this next summer. :tu2: Car shows and cruising with this one!

Maybe a 76-86 ride! In-line 6 next time, both my other jeeps were 79s. A 5 and then a 7 and both had 304s - a little cramped in the engine bay for working on..... :?

Looks like surface rust, would be a cool jeep when all done! have you seen it in person? check the frame for rot and look over the whole tub. Other people on here could tell you more though.

Exactly what YJ man said.

does it run? for that matter, does it even have an engine? Do you want to do a full accurate restore, or more of a resto-mod, where it looks pretty much stock, but maybe has a new drive train extra. The possibilities are endless, and without really knowing much about it, aside from a picture, its really hard to give much advise!
