What are you trying to put into it for a wiring harness and a drivetrain.

There is a difference at 90 and below and 91+

You're asking about 90 and below wiring harness and then asking about 91+ transmissions.

If that jeep is a pre 91, then you need that year wiring harness, with a motor of same year and a trans of same vintage. Among other things the transmissions have different wiring along that same split. They are also a 21 spline output on pre 91 and 23 spline on post 91...the tcases follow the same rules with a 21 spline input and 23 spline input depending on the year.

My understand is that the 95/96 Transmissions use the same wiring harness plug but they are different from the 91 to 94...at this point I can't confirm that info.

Well i've got the stock 4.0 out of the 90 but wiring harness for a manual tranny and the jeep came stock with a auto so I need a auto wiring harness but I was told that the 91 up tranny will fit but from what your telling me that they will not correct?
List of parts I need
Motor mounts
wiring harness for auto
tranny control module
auto tranny
radiator and shroud

There are a ton of connectors that are different at the 90/91 split

If its a 90 and down body, you will definately be better off with the same year wiring. I suppose you could use the 91 transmission, but you will probably be splicing wires, cause I don't believe that the connectors are the same. You'd be better off with a 90 down transmission.

If you mix and match too much you are going to have issues.

You will be better off with as much 90 and down stuff as you can.

mac 'good luck' gyvr

So the wiring harness will work but I need to look for a 90 down transmission?

if you have the stock 90 tcase you definately want a 90 and down transmission. the input on the tcase is 21 spline of that era as well as the trannys output 21 spline. 91 and up are 23 spline inputs for the tcase, and 23 spline output on the transmissions and won't work.

If you end up with a 23-spline T-case, and you need to turn it into a 21-spline T-case, I have the right input gear for it.

If I end up with a 23 couldn't I just use a 91up transmission?
