I know Fuel Injection is the (only) way to go but Not looking to get that in-depth this winter. Just want to find a good carb to put on the jeep for this next year while I get all the other bugs worked out of it. This is not a daily driver and I am not worried that much about gas mileage. I will be putting headers and a new exhaust on this winter as well as a possible HEI conversion and want a good on the trail carburetor to run with. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

I installed a 2100 on an '80 AMC Spirit with the 258. It was a fairly simple install and ran well when finished. I bought the 2100 as a kit from a seller on Ebay.

So it looks like the MC 2100 won. Anyone have one laying around or want to make a run to the junkyard this weekend?

Unless you can find a running Ford 302 or AMC 304 from the early 70s, I'd pony up the $250 to $300 for a new one in a kit, otherwise you'll spend alot more time and money than you'd think getting the used carb to work right (pro'ly will need rebuilt) and finding all of the parts needed to make it fit the 258.

Above is the Ebay item number of the guy doing most of the upgrades. Sounds like he knows what he is doing. I was having some issues with the link but if you put this number in the search link in EBAY it brings it right up.
